Master of Arts in Counseling – Art Therapy

Edinboro University’s graduate Art Therapy program is dedicated to achieving excellence in counseling, art therapy education, clinical and community service, and research. The program integrates both counseling and visual arts practice, engaging the creative power of art for clinical assessment and treatment.

Ranked as #8 in the nation by Nonprofit Colleges Online’s “Students Before Profits Award,” our Master of Arts in Counseling – Art Therapy online program is approved by the National Association of School of Art and Design (NASAD) Commission on Accreditation and meets the educational requirements, according to the ART Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB), to qualify you for your Registration as an Art Therapist (ATR). This program is designed to meet American Art Therapy Association (AATA) requirements; we will be applying for AATA approval after the required three graduating classes.

My main focus has been on art, photography, sociology and psychology. I have been working in the field dealing with adults with special needs for 15 years promoting habilitation training. As I have always desired to be an art therapist this is the time to seek. . Because Hacc is only a two year college I must attend school for one year at an accredited college to receive my degree. I am looking primarily for online classes as I am not able to travel any distance at this time. My goal is to teach art therapy working with adults with special needs and individuals with Mental health issues and memory issues.

Am I able to get a masters in only psychology and still be able to obtain a career in both? Or will I have to receive a masters in clinical psychology and then go back for a masters in art therapy?

what is the difference between a Graduate program and an Undergraduate ?
Would the undergraduate allow you to be a certified art therapist according to the requirements of the association.

ALSO: I would like to hear students from the Undergraduate program at Cedar Crest’s College – Allentown and Marywood University in Scranton.

Thank you,
