Would I need to get a bachelors in Psychology first before applying to a Masters program??

I have had epilepsy all of my life as wee.. I find that painting relaxes me and I use it as a coping mechanism when I am under a lot of pressure. Recently I broke my other hip and I have painted more lately than I had been able to last year. I have a degree in Fine Arts from Southern Ct. St. University, and a Masters in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. I applied to Albertus twice and they turned me down, once because I had a lot gpa, so I took the undergraduate degree again, and the second time because I didn’t take pottery. I went on to attempt to get a PhD in Health psychology, but I can’t handle the statistics courses at Walden University. I want to work with educating people to better accept the hidden disorders of epilepsy and shizophrenia and I believe that this can be done through art therapy. I don’t know whether I need another degree or if it is what it is. I am considering Health Administration as I feel that would get me into the health field. I am open to suggestions. I have been trying to get into art therapy since the 1980s, but I do not drive and at that time I still fell with my seizures. Now I don’t, although they are not controlled. I have taught my grandchildren art since they were small. One grandson has become a young artist in the Minnesota school systems but he began when he was a baby like everyone else in the family. I believe that art allows one to express the fears and depression that sometimes creep into our lives in a very real way. If you look at the website above, you will note there are three books listed. One has 50 pictures and 20 articles, the other two are novels based on fact that deal with all types of problems: abuse, depression, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease etc. In order for disorders to be swept away from stigma, they have to be understood. I watched a video in one of my Masters’s level classes that dealt with depression and it was so sad to see a woman feel that she did not want to have a family because they would be depressed. We need to get rid of negative thinking and art can do a great deal to do this,

Sincerely,

Nancy Carlisle Schumacher
