By: Ashley Wed, 27 Jun 2012 05:50:37 +0000 Hello,

I am interested going to school for Art therapy. I see a lot of these programs are Masters, and I do not live in any of the states of that offer the bachelors degrees. I am currently going to school for elementary education, but want to study this. Do you have any suggestion what I should change my major to? I do have art experience and am also considering getting a fine art degree. Thank you for any advice.

By: meili Thu, 17 May 2012 17:54:09 +0000 There are a few schools that offer online programs. However I haven’t found any yet that are strictly online.

Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College – I believe you have to spend 3 or 4 weeks on campus a year. one week per term. but the rest is online.

Pratt Institute in New York has an online program

And there are schools that offer online programs in counseling with concentrations in Art Therapy. So far I’ve found Goddard college, and Prescott (I’m not sure how their limited residency program works. I requested an informational package.)

a great way to start searching for school is go to the American Art Therapy Association. (google it) there should be a list of schools to look for more info.

By: Lauri Sun, 19 Feb 2012 16:13:04 +0000 I am interested in a online college course for Art Therapy. Is there such a thing? We are moving back to Sierra Vista AZ this coming fall 2012. we would be like 3 hours away from Phoenix, that is why I am asking about online courses.

By: Camille Smith Wed, 09 Nov 2011 02:07:46 +0000 Dear Megan and Patrice,

I am the director of the art therapy program at Prescott College. We are what is known as a limted residency program…not totally on-line, but not a program where you show up in a class room everyday. I would love to give you more detailed information about our program.
You may email me at Be well. Camille Smith,MA, LPC, ATR-BC

By: Megan Wed, 31 Aug 2011 12:11:33 +0000 I was just wondering if there is anyway to get a degree in Art therapy online? I’m having no luck searching for strictly online degrees but I thought maybe someone on here could help me. Can you do a combination of other degrees and still get a job in the art therapy world? Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

By: Denise Tue, 15 Mar 2011 19:28:12 +0000 Correction on post above. I received my undergrad in Psychology from Argosy University in Phoenix and would like to correct the statement that they have an Art Therapy program. They do not.

By: Patrice Kennedy Wed, 12 Jan 2011 19:53:37 +0000 Hello,
I am currently enrolled in a Master’s of Counseling program at the University of Phoenix.
However, I would like to specialize in Art Therapy in addition to receiving the counseling degree. (I received my undergrad degree in art from Oberlin College.)
