As far as finding participants, you might approach hospitals that have art therapy programs, online forums, community programs in your area, etc.

My father used art therapy when he was diagnosed with cancer (he always took photopgrahs but moreso when he was diagnosed). I saw how much it helped him and how happy it made him to actually be able to express himself. Well, I wanted to help other people do the same. I’m trying to run a art show where every artist as cancer. I am donating all the money raised to a cancer research charity but I want it to be more about the participants. Can anyone give me any ideas on how to reach out to those that might have cancer and want to showcase their work? Thank you so much for any help you can offer.
